Role Summary: This role is focused on managing schedules and coordinates the efficient manufacture of systems, components and repairs to satisfy customer demand. Analyzes and revises production plans and provides appropriate delivery dates as required. Works with other departments to ensure customer satisfaction. Analyzes and reports on actual customer demand, trends and forecasts, and adjusts capacity plans accordingly.
Working in close partnership with the Engineering and Operations teams responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Develop and manage integrated master schedules for production and projects, converting sales forecasts and customer orders into executable plans.
• Apply a deep understanding of capacity management in relation to Material Requirements Planning (MRP), including work center input/output loading and schedule execution.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in production, sales, logistics, engineering, and procurement to ensure operational efficiency and resource alignment.
• Assess current demand levels and develop tactical production plans to meet customer requirements; calculate and manage production lead times.
• Conduct capacity assessments and forecast resource requirements to synchronize production output with customer demand, while maintaining optimal inventory levels per established goals.
• Communicate schedules, updates, and project milestones clearly and consistently to staff, supervisors, and stakeholders across all organizational levels.
• Evaluate available capacity prior to releasing planned orders to ensure feasibility and resource readiness.
• Release and print shop work packets to the stockroom, ensuring effective control of workin- progress (WIP).
• Monitor production progress, oversee schedule execution, and proactively address conflicts, delays, or operational challenges.
• Demonstrate proficiency with multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Import engineering BOMs into the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system using specialized software utilities.
• Ensure timely and accurate execution of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in accordance with production requirements.
• Generate and update dispatch reports for all work centers within assigned areas of responsibility.
• Compile and maintain master schedule reports aligned with business, shipment, inventory, and production plans.
• Provide financial input for the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, focusing on incoming volume and capacity planning.
• Optimize scheduling through load leveling and bottleneck management, applying Theory of Constraints (TOC) principles for improved accuracy.
• Monitor production floor performance using input/output control reporting to identify and address inefficiencies.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of electro-mechanical assembly processes, supporting efficient and high-quality production as well as OVS.
• Facilitate cross-functional coordination with customer service, engineering, accounting, and human resources to ensure alignment and information flow.
• Develop and maintain reporting systems to track labor performance and productivity metrics.
• Actively participate in capacity planning across key operational processes, including Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), master scheduling, MRP, and production activity control.
• Resolve discrepancies between workstation loads and available capacity, monitor and report utilization and efficiency across work centers.
• Lead daily sales order meetings and company-wide operations meetings to drive transparency, accountability, and execution.
• Assist with the shipments of good and services.
• Strategic thinker, strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data.
• Be capable of creating and utilizing spreadsheets and ERP-type software in managing the planning process.
• 3-5 years’ experience in scheduling position with extensive demonstrated success of implementing & operationalizing master schedules.
• Accredited 4-year college degree in Manufacturing Management/Operations
Management/Supply Chain or Business Mgmt or other related fields
• Solid, proven organizational, project management and leadership skills
• Change Agent – skill with enabling change, strong influencing abilities particularly with client groups and frontline teams.
• Exceptional interpersonal/written communication skills; can effectively interact with all levels of management and customers
• Strong PC skills (Excel, PP, Word)
• Team player able to work well across business operations and develop strong business teams.
• Demonstrated ability to influence teams and programs regarding quality, productivity and/or customer service.
• Ability to work on multiple projects with limited direction. Clearly has growth potential beyond the role
• APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or APICS Certified Supply chain Professional (CSCP) a plus.
• Lean or Green Belt Six Sigma certification a plus.
